Product Features

Heavy Vehicle Simulator

Driving Terrains

TecknoSIM Software includes multiple terrains for comprehensive driver training. Drivers can learn and practise on different terrains like city roads, commercial areas, mountain roads, highways, expressways and off roads. Customized terrain complies with country-specific traffic regulations. Adjustable day/night conditions, fog, rain, and snow conditions are inbuilt. The traffic level is adjustable based on the driver’s skill level.

Heavy Vehicle Simulator

Training Modules

Truck Driving Simulator features progressive training modules for both initial and advanced driver training. The simulator scenarios cover basic driver training, evaluation and advanced training under different road, traffic and weather conditions. It is possible to conduct lessons without an instructor or with an instructor. Special modules are available to train drivers on eco driving, defensive driving, parking, backing, rollovers, emergency driving and risky situation driving. The language of our training modules is customized to match each client’s needs.

Heavy Vehicle Simulator

Testing and Evaluation

During the simulation, the simulator evaluates the drivers’ driving skills, violations, defensive situations, and driving behavior in real-time.  The simulator generates a detailed driving evaluation report for each driver at the end of the scenario. The record and replay feature allows the instructor to replay the scenario and train the drivers on their mistakes.

Truck Driving Simulator

Instructor Software

It allows instructors to register each driver and plan their training using the instructor software. It allows the instructor to set different driving situations and inject faults like a tire blowout, a child crossing the road, or other distractions. An advanced reporting system and real-time driver screen allow instructors to control the training process fully.

Truck Driving Simulator

Group Training

Multiple instructors can train drivers on the same simulator simultaneously by using different scenarios.

Heavy Vehicle Simulator

Driving Station

This driving station is a replica of the original vehicle’s controls, including brakes, clutches, gears, gauges and a force feedback steering wheel. LED instrument panel with a reconfigurable glass dashboard. In addition, the instrument panel displays gauges, indicator lights, and switches. Rapidly select different truck configurations without changing hardware. For a realistic driving experience, the controls are located ergonomically. TecknoSIM simulators that support right- or left-hand steering require software and hardware adaptations. Simulators can accommodate multiple vehicle types with conversion kits. In the simulator, you can choose from 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 13, 15, and 18-speed transmissions.

Display System

The display system immerses drivers in real-world driving environments. A 120° immersive display is provided by three large LED screens. High-definition projectors for the front view & LCD screens for rearview are used in the case of a full-scale simulator set up providing a 180° immersive display.

Motion System

TecknoSIM Driving Simulators incorporate an integrated electric motion system that is compact and low on maintenance. As a result, electric actuators detect acceleration, deceleration, road curvatures, sidewalks, potholes, and other road features. To simulate vibrations, an engine’s RPM can be used. Vibrations from the tires on the road surface change with a change in vehicle speed and road surface. Motion systems are available in options of three degrees of motion (3DOF) and six degrees of freedom (6DOF) and are designed for maintenance free operations.

Heavy Vehicle Simulator

Instructor Station

The instructor station controls the driving station and allows trainers with the following options:

  • Managing a database of trainees and instructors
  • Controlling multiple simulators
  • Creation of new exercises
  • Modifying the environment in a running session
  • Injecting vehicle faults into a running session
  • Record and replay of saved sessions
  • Managing performance evaluation reports
  • Calibration of simulators

FAQ

What is a truck driving simulator?

A truck driving simulator is a virtual training system that mimics operating large trucks. It provides realistic road conditions, traffic scenarios, and vehicle dynamics, allowing drivers to practice safely and refine skills before driving actual trucks.

Are truck driving simulators realistic?

Advanced simulators use high-definition visuals, force-feedback steering, and motion platforms to closely replicate real-world driving. While they can’t capture every road nuance, they provide a highly immersive experience that significantly improves training outcomes.

What is heavy/commercial truck driving training?

It involves teaching drivers to safely operate large trucks, covering maneuvers, safety protocols, and load management. Training often includes both theoretical lessons and hands-on practice to build confidence and competence behind the wheel.

Are heavy truck driving simulators used for licensing?

While often used as supplemental training, many commercial driving schools include simulators in their curriculum. They prepare students for on-road tests by building familiarity with truck controls and safe driving practices.

What challenges do heavy truck driving simulators address?

They address long stopping distances, large blind spots, and challenging traffic conditions. By simulating varied road and weather scenarios, operators gain experience in handling adverse conditions without endangering themselves or others.

How can heavy truck driving simulators improve driver skills?

Simulators let drivers practice complex maneuvers and emergency procedures in a risk-free environment. Real-time feedback helps them correct mistakes quickly, leading to safer, more efficient driving when they transition to real trucks.
